Long Time No Blogging...

I am the world's worst blogger. It's okay though, I'm good with it. It's not as if I am working tons of ads and affiliated links on here, in fact I pride myself on having an ad-free blog. Some ad laden blogs are just a bit TOO much. I get that they are trying to make money, but it totally distracts from their actual blogging content. Of course this is just my .02. It's their blog and they can do as they like.

Okay let's see, project wise I have completed 21 since last checking in here and have begun at least 5 more...at least!

Let's show off the completed works of art:

Morticia (Boo Knits Halloween MKAL)

This was such a fun knit and a wonderful bunch of people in the group on Rav to knit it with!

These are just too cute. I made two pairs of these as well. I had to alter the pattern just a smidge to bring the opening up a little higher.

It's amazing that with all this slipper making I did....I never did get to actually KEEP a pair for myself!!! I gave them/allowed them to be scooped up by non-makers. Heck, I can always whip up a pair for myself!  :)

The ringing in of  the New Year brought us news of a 2014 deployment. It also brought the 2014 Crochet Mood Blanket CAL! Thanks to FROFUNKY for starting the ball rolling on this one!  I bet she never expected it to gain the momentum it has. Here is a link to the FaceBook Group. If you search crochet mood blanket, you will see a TON of crafty blogs showing off their squares.

The idea is to choose a color based on your mood for the day and hook or knit up a square. If you choose to do the square a day, ideally you would end up with 365 square blanket. Choose a square a week and you have 52 squares. Some of us makers are joining as we go along, others are waiting to the end. some are doing mood squares, others are choosing a color palette. Some are doing one blanket, others are doing more. It's really all up to the maker!

I have decided to do 4 blankets. One for Boy Wonder, one for Teen Queen, one for Rambo and one for myself. Here is a collage photo from my IG feed. The colorful one is for my daughter, Americana is mine (colors chosen to represent this year's deployment), Captain America is for my son, and the camo one is Rambo's.

I have fallen a bit behind on my #crochetmood2014 blankets. Had a couple commission orders come in and those take priority. :)

The one I am most behind on is Captain America. I fashioned together a pattern, now I have to recall what I did and write it down!   O_o   Signs of a bad designer: forgets to write down work!  hahahahah!

I've whipped up a couple more Infinity scarves for Teen Queen. I figure she can use them at college, a hug from momma while she is hours and hours away from home. One for Valentine's and the other for St. Patrick's!

That's about it for now!  I've also whipped up a couple spa cloths to go along with some all natural bath & body products I made. I will post a pic of those in a follow up!

A follow up that will come before the end of the year... I promise!  :D

        Until then...STAY WICKED CRAFTY!!!

        Guess What Day It Is?

This just never gets old with me!  Rambo, the kids and I send it just about every week to one another.  It's really the little things, ya know?  ;)

Not only is it Hump Day, but it's also WIP Wednesday!
My main WIP is my Morticia MKAL by Boo Knits over on Ravelry.

I have also finished three pairs of socks! Socktober and a MKAL...what more could a gal ask for!?!?!

        Throat Punch Thursday

It's almost the end of the week ... the weekend is
C R E E P I N G closer.  I've got three words... Not. Fast. Enough.  While I am at it, there are times I would like to take Throat Punch Thursday literally.  I am endlessly amused by these dumbasses I see while driving, while at the grocery, while running any number of errands...however, some of them need to be throat punched.

Oh yeah, to keep it crafty up in here... I have another pair of socks on the needles!  This is basically to keep me busy while I impatiently await the BOO HALLOWEEN MYSTERY KNIT ALONG on Ravelry.

Autumn is my all time favorite time of year.  I LOVE Halloween.  I love that the air gets cool and crisp.  I love the falling leaves and the smell of the air.  I love heading off to the apple orchard/pumpkin patch.  Hmmm, I don't think there is one thing that I don't like about Autumn.

Now go throat punch someone before Thursday is over!

Haven't Fallen Off This Little Blue Planet...yet

While off -season training had been going on all fall and winter, February brought tryouts, followed by March, April and May game season. With Teen Queen away at college, we only had one athletic schedule to follow. WHEW! What a difference it makes. Not having to rush from one field or one venue to another sometimes within the same hour. No more missing one kid's game to go see the other one. No more multi colored coordinated calendar for games, practices and tournaments. Finally, I could go to one game and stay for the entire thing, without having to worry about what the other one was doing or if it was time for me to leave so I could go pick the other one up. To celebrate this, I took game photos and action shots.

Of course there are many, many MANY more. Which can be seen on my Flickr if you feel the need to go check them out. Boy Wonder had a good season and while we would have appreciated the coaching staff pulling their heads out from where ever they had them stuck...all in all it was ok.

Once the icy weather had passed and it was becoming more spring like outside, not only was it baseball time, but it was also time for FISHIN'!

May brought Teen Queen home for about 10 days. This was after her team had won their state championship and traveled to Utah to take part in the Nationals...which they won! TQ has a couple of super bowl sized champion rings coming her way. While most of her peers were coming home for the entire summer, she was home only for a brief moment. Smartly, she decided to attend summer semester to make up for the FUBAR'd first semester at the other school. Grampa came to visit while both kids were home for a bit and we took in a couple local Triple A games! This family loves their baseball!!!

June was the end of Sophomore year for Boy Wonder and the start of summer ball. We learn of a prospect baseball site with showcases and we find a FUN travel team interested in Boy Wonder. After the school season and BS we had dealt with, it was important that we find something that made baseball fun again. You know it's rough, when a kid who has only had baseball on his mind since he could walk begins to second guess his choices. FYI, this does NOT make for a happy Rambo Dad and Witch Momma!!!

July brought more of the same with fun travel ball tournaments.

July was ROAD TEST month!!! After logging all of the practice hours and teaching him everything he needed to know to be prepared to take this test, it was time. I had successfully taught Teen Queen and now it was Boy Wonder's turn. We showed up a little early, and they asked if he was ready now...off he goes!

Both kids are now licensed drivers! I am a damn fine driving teacher. Rambo had said all along there was no way he would do it. Heck he even sat in the backseat a few times during TQ's lessons and held on for dear life. He was a bit more secure when it came time for BW. Not sure if it was because BW was a better driver, or if Rambo had been broken by TQ's driving and it just didn't matter anymore! HAH!

July was another travel ball tournament which brought Boy Wonder his first home run of the year! ... and also his second.  :)  After that it was time to hit the road for some more baseball orientated festivities. Up to Cooperstown for the Baseball Hall of Fame. Then onto NH for Catching Camp! It was a great time and far too many photos to share here!!! Once the 4 day camp was done we set on our way home. Of course we had to swing through CT and visit my old hometown.

August brought another prospect recruiting site/biz showcase. It was a VERY busy but fun summer with A LOT of miles and hours of driving. It's a good thing I like to drive! August also meant the end of our summer and the start of another school year. JUNIOR YEAR!

With all of this baseballin', fishing and driving it's a wonder I managed to get any yarn craftiness done!  Socks are a great on the go project. Plus side, at least my feet will be toasty this winter!

Still Crafty After All This Time!

Pathetic catch up post in November 2012.  Now FEBRUARY 1st 2013! Time to liven things up around here! So much has been going on, life in general.  Boy Wonder does in fact have his driving permit and has been racking up his mandatory driving hours before he is able to take his road test in June or July. I have to say, he is doing very well! I believe I have only gripped the arm rest in fear for my life one time.

We ventured out on our annual family pumpkin picking adventure at Huber's Farm.

First semester at college was not Teen Queen's friend.  What with living away from home for the first time, being 6 hours away, mean girl drama with roommate, team issues etc. It was all just a bit too much for her to deal with. Thinking she could tackle it on her own didn't work out in her favor.  I think she was mainly heart broken about the Coaches who recruited her last year did not have their contracts renewed. The coaches who recruited her for a certain position and told her that she would be a four year starter, were no longer there and the search for a new coaching staff was on.  This would have been nice to know!  Eventually a new coach was hired.  He brought with him some of his own recruits.  It was later found out that he didn't have much stock in the team chosen by the previous coaches and he was going to clean house.  Needless to say one of the position players he brought with him was taking Teen Queen's position. She knew that she would never see the light of day starting, I think this is what tore her apart most. Add to that mean girl ridiculous DRAMA from roommate and you have a shitty semester. Thankfully, TQ is an awesome athlete and has had awesome grades in the past...enter a new coach from another school to save the day! This coach believed in TQ enough to offer her a chance to prove herself this next semester. If all works out, she will have as close to a full ride as a softball player can get! (everything except room and board) Which is more than she was getting at the previous college!  This makes for a happy TQ as well as a happy momma and daddy.

We've had pipes burst between floors in the house. Which is always fun! While I was able to get the plumbers out to tear holes in ceiling and repair the pipes, I have yet to repair the holes made by said plumbers.  At some point I am going to have to learn how to patch drywall in ceiling and texture ceiling as well as I can to 'match' then repaint entire ceiling. Sounds like a party...not so much. Not at all.

Rambo had kidney surgery that didn't work. Went to ER and then spent 3 days in the hospital and had yet another surgery.  Nothing like spending your birthday in a hospital bed!

Through everything I knit and crochet, knit and crochet. I think it helps to keep me somewhat sane. I am not the most sane person in the world, so could you even imagine me without crafting?! o_O

        Let's see....

        One Row Scarf

        Wicked Wurm Hat
        Sixty Cables Hat

        Diagonal Roll Tide Scarf

3 Pairs of Nola Slippers for Gifts

        Intrepid Traveler Socks

        Wickedly Ribbed Hat

        Vanilla Latte Socks  (WIP)

        Another Granny Stripe Blanket (WIP)

Along with t hese 2 WIPS, I am also working on a CAL over at HOOKEY; Maven's Mystery CAL. These things ought to keep my insanity levels down while we venture into the new year!

        Poor Neglected Crafty Blog

No, I haven't fallen off the face of the Earth...yet.  I have been so unbelievably busy that it isn't even funny.  Life has been happening.  Teen Queen graduated High School and moved away to college, Boy Wonder is going strong in High School and Baseball, looking to go take his learner's permit soon.  Morris the fattest housecat is growing into a little old man.  In June our Lucy Binx the Chocolate Wonder Lab passed on.  So many other things have happened, of course I cannot possibly recall of it since my last log in, in FEBRUARY!  February for crying out loud.

        ~LUCY BINX~

After bringing Teen Queen to move in day in the middle of August, it was assumed that the next time we would see her would be for Thanksgiving Break.  A SUPER LONG time!  I have never been apart from my kids for very long.  Rambo, sure no problem...a year deployment here, another year deployment there.  But my KIDS?!?!?  NO WAY!

Thank goodness for FALL BALL.  She text me to say they were playing in Martin, TN on one Saturday.  A four hour drive for me, but heck I get to see her and get to see her play at the next level in her Softball career!  You know I made the drive!

In all this time I have been making crap.  Of course I forgot to document a few items on my Ravelry, here and there.  In any case, here ya go!  Let's see, in February I left off with the Baby Granny Stripe...

Since then, there has been a Teen Queen Granny Stripe (not pictured), a Crazy Clown Granny Stripe, Bed Side Rug, Fat Pillow, and a Wicked Bright Ripple Wave blanket.

                                                                            Crazy Clown

                                                                                Bedside Rug

                                                                                Fat Pillow

                                                                     Wicked Bright Ripple Wave

Then it was time for Ravelympics  eh hem, pardon me...RAVELLENIC GAMES.  There was a big to do about the Olympic big wigs getting their under-roos in a wad over the use of Ravelympics and how it was too alike OLYMPICS...yaddah yaddah, blah blah blah. If you care to read about it you can find any number of articles here in this GOOGLE search.

My RAVELLENICS Projects consisted of; Wicked Poisonous Fruit Hat, Wicked Tsuga and Wicked Nice Sock.  For which I 'medal-ed' in various categories.  Categories are: Cable Steeplechase, Hat Dash, Sock Put, Shawl Sailing, Synchronized Stash Busting, and Single Skein Sprint.  It was all in good fun and I was happy to get out of my knitting funk I had fallen into.

        Wicked Nice Sock

Once I was done with Ravellenics, I was onto a sock knitting bender.  I knit up these 2 pairs of socks quickly.  After which I cast on for a HOT PINK pair of socks for my friend Susan's birthday present.  SHE LOVED THEM!!!  Of course I was in such a rush to get them washed and blocked that I completely forgot to take a photo of them.  *bummer*

I have just completed a scarf that was supposed to be a gift for one of Teen Queen's Magic Softball player friends.  She was coming home the same weekend as TQ and was going to swing by and pick her up and they would both come back home to the Ville together.  However, TQ's coach had other plans.  NON OPTIONAL PRACTICE.  So now,  I will be making the 12 round trip drive to bring TQ home for Fall Break Weekend.  However, the scarf is complete.  I will still give it to our intended recipient, she will love it!

Photo after it's washed and dried.  Currently OTN (on the needles for you non knitter types) is WURM.  a hat for a friend of a friend who has just been diagnosed with cancer.  My dear friend asked if I would make a hat.  I told her that I will make as many hats as she likes!
